These words of Anna still brings tears to my eyes:Anna see the corn field, see how summer's brought a million ears so fine,Anna, the stalks are browning, they're singing the last verse of summer time.Anna is a story song. I composed this song for my Mom and Dad. Hank Locklin, RCA recording artist, heard me sing the song and he loved it too. He recorded the song and it became a number one hit in Europe and eventually in New Zealand. Here is how the song came to life: I was standing in my window watching Dad's old corn stalks blow in the wind. My Dad had planted the corn as food for Mom and seven children. Now he and Mom were growing old, fading like the brown cornstalks. I grabbed my pen and the song poured out of my heart. The words of the song called Anna to life. You see, Hank Locklin, a member of the Grand Ole Opry, had already recorded two of my composed songs. Both were hits in Europe. Anna was to become the third and my favorite. (Hank has since released the same Anna song, three more times.) I was humbled when Hank introduced me from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, saying that the song, Anna was his most requested song. He added, Here is a little girl who wrote the song, Anna Prince from North Carolina is one of the finest song writer I have ever met.Anna Prince,AnnaPrince.com
