Katharine McPhee, 'Had It All' (Sessions)

Katharine McPhee went blonde in her head long before the former brunette touched a hair on her scalp. As her music began evolving from the lighthearted R&B/pop of her 2007 debut to the more mature, confessional pop on her new album, 'Unbroken,' she began thinking about changing her appearance too. "I think that's what the hair was all about," she told AOL during a recent Sessions taping. "It's the one time where I wasn't concerned what everybody else thought, so that's why I did it. I'm sure I'll be back to being a brunette one day -- dying the hair every four weeks is a little bit of a pain -- but for now I'm having fun. No pun intended: blondes have more fun." After showing off her new sound, as well as her new look, at the taping, she brought AOL up to speed on her life, her furry friends, self-esteem issues and her fellow 'American Idol' contestants.
