Coldplay's schedule of activities on a gray February afternoon in L.A. is so jam packed that there's no time to warm up or relax when they arrive for their Session at AOL: Once the band gets to the Hollywood studio in which their equipment has been set up, it's straight into an abbreviated sound check, a performance (which is as focused, powerful, and impassioned as always), a quick interview, and back into the limo to get to the next obligation. Nonetheless, when Coldplay arrives, Chris Martin and his bandmates are in a good mood, super-friendly, and ready to play.
At one point during the performance, Chris Martin and his bandmates launched into a heartbreaking, hyper-intense version of 'The Scientist'-- only to be interrupted by his cell phone ringing loudly just as the song was reaching its emotional crescendo. No word on whether it was Mrs. Martin (aka actress Gwyneth Paltrow) on the other end, but Martin dutifully pulled his phone out of his pocket, politely told the caller to try again later, then began the song again with equal fervor.
