Who: Metro StationAlbum: 'Metro Station'
Video: 'Shake It'
Hails From: Hollywood, CA
For Fans Of: Motion City Soundtrack and
HellogoodbyeWhy They're About to Pop: What does an electro-rock band from California have to do with the Disney Channel's most popular TV show? A lot. In 2006, Metro Station's Trace Cyrus (that's right, Miley's stepbrother) and Mason Musso were brought together on the set of
'Hannah Montana' on which Musso's brother Mitchel also stars. Thanks to the urging of their mothers, Cyrus and Musso bonded over their love of music and soon added Anthony Improgo on percussion and Blake Healy on keys to form the 80s-influenced outfit. Record labels came knocking and the four-piece eventually recorded their self-titled debut album, in part produced by Motion City Soundtrack's Justin Pierre and Josh Cain. Since the release of their record, the band's single, 'Shake It,' has reached No. 10 on the Billboard charts and has been certified gold, selling over 800,000 copies. Metro Station is currently on the 'Soundtrack of Your Summer Tour' with
Boys Like Girls and
Good Charlotte through August 22.

"We haven't played in a couple of months now, so it's good to see you again," Pete Wentz said early in
Fall Out Boy's 40-minute set in L.A on Thursday. The band has been busy writing material for the follow-up to last year's 'Infinity on High,' but the combination of Victoria's Secret and the famed Santa Monica Pier was a tough offer to pass up.
The group headlined a free show, Pinkapalooza, against the backdrop of a neon-lit ferris wheel and roller coaster to celebrate Victoria's Secret's new collegiate line. Flanked by Pink banners on both sides, the quartet embraced the spirit of a free show for thousands of fan, giving a shout out to Victoria's Secret in a unique way. Quoting a "friend" in 'Every Time I Die,' Wentz dedicated a song to his friend's two favorite things -- "Boobs."
It was that kind of a loose set, as they teased the
Panic at the Disco guys, who're overseas in Europe and jealous of FOB's lush setting, according to Wentz. FOB performed a snippet of Panic's 'I Write Sins, not Tragedies,' as frontman Patrick Stump showcased his softer side, bringing a reggae vibe to Akon's 'Don't Matter,' ending it with the refrain to Sonny and Cher's classic 'I got you Babe.' Then the guitarist asked the crowd, "How retarded it that? Akon to R. Kelly to Sonny and Cher?" Of course, the group gave the fans what they wanted as well, rocking 'This Ain't a Scene, it's an Arms Race." And Wentz promised the absence wouldn't be too painful. "We won't be gone as long as you think."

Panic at the DiscoWhy They're About to Pop: The Cab has certainly gotten by with a little help from their friends, and in this case, those friends include members of Panic at the Disco and Pete Wentz. The duo soon added Alex Johnson (drums), Alex Marshall (piano) and Ian Crawford (guitar) to flesh out their bold pop rock sound. After touring locally in Nevada, the Cab's demo landed in the hands of Panic at the Disco's Spencer Smith, who brought the record to Panic's label owner, Pete Wentz. These are good days for
Weezer. More than 15 years since its formation, the band is having the biggest hit of its career with 'Pork and Beans.' That's saying a lot for a group that also brought us the indelibly catchy tunes 'Beverly Hills,' 'The Sweater Song,' 'Buddy Holly' and 'Hash Pipe' over the years.
Led by the enigmatic, reserved Rivers Cuomo, who has collected a degree from Harvard in English literature since the release of the band's last album, Weezer are reveling in their continued good fortune. That includes the No. 4 debut of their new (and third) self-titled album, dubbed "The Red Album" to distinguish it from the "Blue" and "Green" albums.
When asked about the secret behind writing a good power pop song, Cuomo seems to have the process down to a science. "It's different in different decades, but I think now the chorus has to be the best part of the songs," Cuomo tells AOL during the band's recent Sessions taping. "It's gotta be catchy. It's gotta be pretty short but not too short, like, just over 3 minutes is good. You gotta get to the chorus within a minute. For us, major keys are great and the tempo of at least 115 beats per minute."
