Conway Twitty Comes Alive in New Musical

Conway Twitty is taking fans on a journey through his personal and career highlights. 'Conway Twitty: The Man, The Music, The Legend,' a musical based on the legendary country singer's life, premiered in Nashville last weekend. It features more than 30 songs and narrative by actresses portraying Conway's daughters, Joni and Kathy Twitty. The girls, portrayed by Tiffany Leigh Baldwin and Amber Hayes, tell stories both funny and heartwarming about their dad, recalling the time he painted lemons on a brand new car because the dealership wouldn't make the necessary repairs to it. They also remember stories from the road, their brief move to California while Conway pursued acting, and touching family moments of Conway as a father and husband.

Rosanne Cash Wants to Replace Sarah Palin

The choice of Sarah Palin as the Republicans' vice presidential candidate has evoked political aspirations in Rosanne Cash ... at least sarcastically. In an open letter to The Nation, Cash writes that she would like to replace Palin on the GOP ticket.

"I feel confident that John McCain will see that the very attributes he desired in his VP choice can be met, and even exceeded in some areas, by me," she writes.

The eldest daughter of Johnny Cash and a Grammy-winning singer/songwriter herself, Cash goes on to outline her resume, highlighting similarities and differences between herself and Palin on key political issues. For instance, on reproductive issues, Cash writes, "I also believe that a teenager's pregnancy is a 'private family matter.' In fact, I believe that every woman's pregnancy is a 'private, family matter.' (I bet the GOP never thought of making that leap!)"

Story Behind the Song: 'Home,' Michael Buble & Blake Shelton

Alan Chang and Amy Foster talked to The Boot about the hit song they wrote with Michael Buble. After Buble made 'Home' a No. 1 pop hit, Blake Shelton covered the song, making it a No. 1 country hit, as well.

Alan: He [Michael] had the first few lines of the song written when he came to sound check one day. He was expressing the sentiment we've all felt of wanting to be home after being gone for a long period of time. When I first heard what he had to say, I felt it might be too much of a complaint, especially since it was about being stuck in Europe, where we happened to be. I thought to myself, 'Oh great, complain about being stuck in Europe.' But I thought basically it was a good idea, so I figured I'd just go with it and try to come up with music that would fit that theme.

Tim McGraw Upset By His Own CD Release

Although Curb Records released Tim McGraw's third greatest hits package last week, McGraw wants fans to know he had nothing to do with the collection, and he's unhappy about its release.

"I am saddened and disappointed that my label chose to put out another hits album instead of new music," McGraw said in a statement released Tuesday.

McGraw has been working on a new studio album for more than a year, and he debuted three new songs on this year's Live Your Voice Tour. While it was his desire to have a new record out this fall, Curb decided instead to release a collection of hits, thereby extending McGraw's recording contract term.
