Major News Outlet Writes Britney Obit

1. This is really a non-story. This is standard procedure for many news outlets, they have them written on probably hundreds, if not thousands of Celebrity's, politicians, sports figues and world leaders. Not a big deal, must be a slow news day.

4. Papers pre-write alot of stars obits long before they're dead, they just don't talk about it much. They update the info as it comes along.

7. Not a big deal. She's a pop icon going through a hard time, acting like a complete crazed person and may croak at any minute. Newspapers have to be ready for everything when it comes to the stars. You don't think they write the obits AFTER they're dead do you? In the days of internet, obits get posted within minutes of a person's death. Get over it.

8. Nobody's wishing to use her obituary yet, it's a common practice. A friend of mine works for CNN and they routinely create and update bios and prepare obits for celebrities so they can be prepared in the event of the star's passing. They're not trying to jinx anybody, they just want all the bases covered. I am not a Britney fan and have never been, but I do feel badly for her and wish the paparazzi would leave her alone and give her room to breathe. The poor girl needs her space from the public eye and psychological counseling to get through the terrible ordeal she's been in for the past few years. She's on the verge of a breakdown and all those obnoxious flashbulbs in her face don't help at all.

9. Maybe you ought to change your sites name to "poopeater" bacause this report is downright crap. Okay she's a celebrity so I guess some folks feel that makes her fair game but this is going too far. She clearly has serious emotional problems and things like this could potentially put her over the edge. I think whoever leaked this from the AP should be fired and the AP as well as any media outlets should be held responsible if something tragic does happen. This is not Paris Hilton here. Ms.Spears is not capable of defending or helping herself right now. Shame

11. All you people so "shocked" by this are ignorant. Your ignorance is really no surprise considering the fact that most of those outraged are Britney supporters. News outlets do this all the time. There are probably obits ready for all of the major presidential candidates and politicians, as well as tons of actors and actresses. In fact, previously written obits have already mistakenly been released for Vice President Dick Cheney, and (long before he died) Bob Hope. Considering the fact that the girl is bats*it crazy, AP should not be faulted at all for keeping Britney's obit on file.

12. Why doesn't the AP start writing the obits of all the young men & women serving their country in the armed forces instead of this spoiled, self-absorbed poor excuse for a mother/pop star. Maybe then this poor excuse for an administration will get off their lazy asses and do something to bring these kids home where they belong, before any more have to die for Bush's ego.

14. Buddy L, I would agree with you about the pre-written obit. I just feel the press needs to back-off. They should have backed off when she was legitimately hospitalized. This whole storyline is just plain hurtful. When they are talking about her legal issues or her actual public behavior thats one thing. But this was simply done to generate a sense of potential tragedy and make a story. It frankly crosses a line. If this were your sister having an emotional breakdown or perhaps in a deep depression how would you feel about this? It ceased to be fair news when it became a matter of her mental health.

15. Britney is just one of the tradgy stories of the child stars raised and produced by Disney. Just look at was has become of them. I would not trust my child to be warped by such manipulators and users. What Disney star has ever amounted to what the normal person would call a positive influence? What does it profit a man to gain the entire world but loose their soul? No thanks, Disney. I'd rather my kids watched Animal Planet or Discovery Kids but that Disney stuff is nothing but unproductive trash - in my opinion of course.
