Heavy Charges for
Star Rapper

1 of 5

Chart-topping rapper T.I. will spend about a year in jail and must complete over a 1,000 community service hours after pleading guilty to possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of machine guns and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Cameras will follow the hip-hop star while he performs more than 1,000 hours of community service before starting a one-year prison sentence on weapons charges next spring, according to his Atlantic Records label. His recent release from house arrest has already been captured on film.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was arrested last October just hours before he was to be honored at the BET Hip-Hop Awards in his Atlanta hometown. The rapper, who had previous convictions, was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

He is currently working on a new album, "Paper Trail," due Aug. 12. The first single, "No Matter What," is currently No. 19 on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart.

I am upset with the fact that TI is letting MTV tape this...Does he not know that he is publicly displaying a BLACK negative statistic...Since he is a celebrity he should try to be a role model and actually try to display positive actions instead of negative ones....Come on TI try to uplift the black community and the future generation instead of broadcasting the negative.

To T.I.'s credit, I did view a interview where T.I. did take full responsibility for his actions calling his decision to make the purchase of the weapons a very stupid one. I'm not into rap or his music but I did respect the fact that he did own up to his dumb mistake.

time for the music industry to get rid of these fake musicians!!!!!!

How stupid. I am sure that in this documentary he will blame everyone else for why he is a convicted felon and why it is someone else's fault that he had a gun. Oh and he was forced to plead guilty I am sure. I am so sick of these celebrities committing crimes, crimes that the general public commits, and they get a slap on the wrist or a fine to pay. I don't care what color or nationality they are. They should be less likely than those struggling in the general population to do stupid things like this, because hell they pay someone to do all of their thinking and doing for them. I think all of them should have to serve the standard time for their crime and do it with the others that are in general population jail.
