Richie Sambora Arrested for DUI

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (March 26) - Richie Sambora, lead guitarist for the rock band Bon Jovi, was arrested in Southern California on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said Wednesday.

Sambora, who was taken into custody shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday night in the seaside community of Laguna Beach, could also face child endangerment charges because there were two minors in his black Hummer at the time, police said.

Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has plead no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit stemming from a March 25 arrest. Prosecutors dropped a second charge of driving under the influence.

Shia LaBeouf, who already got off of trespassing charges for a possibly-drunk Walgreens arrest, briefly had a $1,000 bench warrant against him after failing to appear in court for a smoking offense. The warrant was subsequently dismissed when LaBeouf's attorney entered a not-guilty plea.

"He was stopped for lane-straddling and weaving in lanes," Laguna Beach police spokesman Sgt. Jason Kravetz said. "The officer who contacted him smelled alcohol, got him out of the vehicle and performed a field sobriety test."

Kravetz said the 49-year-old rocker, a longtime resident of Laguna Beach, failed the field sobriety test and was administered a blood test when he was booked at the police station.

Sambora, who was "very cooperative" with officers, was released on his own recognizance at about 4 a.m. Wednesday and ordered to appear in court May 7, Kravetz said.

Police declined to identify the three female passengers in Sambora's car, but the guitarist has a 10-year-old daughter with actress Heather Locklear.

However, according to PEOPLE, his daughter was in the car.

The guitarist twice spent time in rehab during 2007.

"At this point we're waiting for the blood test results," Kravetz said. "There is a possibility we will seek additional charges if, after speaking with the District Attorney's office, we feel the children were endangered."

Bon Jovi, formed in New Jersey during the 1980s, became one of the decade's iconic bands with top-selling albums including "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey."

The band, which is fronted by singer Jon Bon Jovi, is best known for such classic rock hits as "Livin' on a Prayer," "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "I'll Be There for You."

Richie God allows circumstances in our lives to get our attention Alcohol is only a symptom of lifes struggles.in scripture in Matt 19:26 with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

i just can't believe how this band with all the money they could ever dream of having, that the lead guitar player has to get a dui. Of course you can tell he's messed up, but it just amazes me and yet sickens me at the same time. You need to get a grip Richie and grow up. Enjoy what you have in life, it really can be easy without the bottle. You'd be surprised

I was so upset to hear this news! I have been a hugh fan of Bon Jovi and Richie for YEARS! Things have been real rough for him but still no excuse for drinking and driving! All I can say is MY PRAYERS ARE WITH HIM! Good luck Richie! Hope to see you and the guys this summer!
