Pete Doherty Leaving Jail 69 Days Early

(May 2) - British rock star Pete Doherty, whose troubles with drugs, women and the law overshadow his musical talents, is set to be released from jail on May 6 after serving 29 days of his 14-week sentence, The Sun newspaper is reporting Friday.

On April 8, a court ordered the 29-year-old Doherty to spend 98 days in jail for violating terms of probation by refusing to take drug tests during a suspended sentence. That initial ruling, handed down last fall, spared him from jail after he admitted to driving illegally while in possession of crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

Doherty, known for his work with The Libertines and the band Babyshambles, will likely be released under a new policy in Britain to ease prison overcrowding. He has spent his days in a private unit over concerns that other inmates were planning to harm him.

According to The Sun, Doherty is planning to spend his first night out of jail playing a concert and getting intoxicated.

"He's planning to go straight to play a gig and then get smashed," a friend of the singer told the newspaper. "He wants no business appointments for three days, so he can really go for it."

His time in jail meant that the rocker, who dated super model Kate Moss, had to cancel a widely-anticipated performance at the Royal Albert Hall scheduled for April 26.

I am not going to judge him because I am no better than him just like all the other judgemental people here are that think they are better. I have made mistakes in my life just like everyone has and know people who have their own problems too and everyone handles it in their own way. Some ways are better than others but unless I walk in his shoes I will not judge him. I wouldn't call myself a fan of his but I am not going to kick him while he is down because I have done things that I am not proud of and I hope he does well in his life. Good luck Pete

What do you mean don't blame the user ? You don't think he's making these choices?

I can walk right past a drug dealer and not be affected by the drugs, Because I CHOOSE NOT TO USE THEM.

Rock stars CHOOSE to be what they are... they are not victims as far as I'm concerned, and people reap what they sew....

He will probably end up dead, like other " stars " have...
