NEW YORK (May 21) - Rapper Nas has ditched his controversial plan to call his new album "N+gger."

"It's important to me that this album gets to the fans," Nas said in a statement, referring to likely problems promoting and distributing the album.

"The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it."

The untitled project will be released July 1 via Def Jam.

Last year, Nas announced the original title in response to the stir caused by former CBS radio host Don Imus' comments toward the Rutgers women's basketball team. But he recently told MTV that he was being pressured to change the title.

His last album, 2006's "Hip-Hop Is Dead," has sold 757,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Personally, I think Nas has lost his voice. He is no longer respected as in years past. Frankly, he made many albums that didn't do well. He made many bad choices that adversely affected his career. Joining Murder Inc. was not a good move on his part, and when that didn't work out he joined Def Jam under the leadership of Jay-Z his nemesis. His own team out of Queen Bridge don't even respect him. His fan base is gone. His time has passed. Please Nas, no more albums. "What you tryin to kick knowledge, n - - - a yo **** is garbage".

If you want a positve reaction you hae to set in motion a positive act
If you want a negative reaction then you must set in motion a a negative act
Now as for what he was trying to do i understand. He is going to show you something ugly but by defintion he will show you the beauty of it. Now to name the Album what is was going to be was a brave and bold move but not smart.

It's interesting that someone can claim to know the mindset of millions of people and relate the mindset to skin color. what is the "slave mentality", anyway? And please explain what a "properly trained negro" is. where does your expertise come from? How many negros have you "properly trained?" you don't sound like any kind of expert to me You sound more like some blowhard trying to intelligently discuss some theory that has no merit or basis in fact. I'm sure that you don't consider yourself to be a racist, so answer this question: How is it that you can attribute a mindset or set of behaviors to a group, on the basis of race and not be a racist?

I grew up with Nas he's been and always will be an Intelligent brother far beyond the like of today's so called rappers ie,.,Lil Wanye Young Jeezy and Soulja Boy. Everything he does is measured from his thoughts to his lyrics to his end goals whether they work as an absolute or as an aid to get his point across. These young kids of today wouldn't know real hip hop if it rang their bell having them open the door to:'Two years ago a friend of mine ask me to say some mc rhymes..." Nasir Jones will always be the Illest and like Pac, Big, Jay, Em and a selected few others will be remembered as long as hip hop exists as an art form to purists of the game.

nas is awesome, a definite legend. someone down there said he's nothing compared to lil wayne...hahahaha what a joke. lil wayne got no rhyme skills and you cant even compare the 2. nas is on a whole other level. lil wayne is what i like to call a trend rapper--sure he's cool now, but where will his songs be 10-15 years from now?? i know most of you reading this article has "It aint hard to tell" "if i ruled the world" or some other old skool nas playing on their itunes.
