Is Miley Cyrus the New Britney Spears?

(March 27) How much does a 15-year-old television megastar have in common with a 26-year-old who forgets to wear underwear, shaves her head, attacks a car with an umbrella and has to be forced into the psychiatric ward of a hospital? A lot, actually.

In her heyday, Britney Spears reigned supreme over the teen girl landscape with hit after hit and tons of attention and adoration. Now that she's fallen on hard times, Miley Cyrus seems poised to take her spot as the hot female phenomenon. A look at each girls' path to stardom reveals many similarities between the two.

Has Miley already begun her acension to Britney's level? Even the paparazzi are beginning to take notice of Miley's new status. During the Easter weekend, more photographers trailed the younger star than her older counterpart, marking a change in the Hollywood universe.

But can Miley avoid the pitfalls of young Hollywood, and escape the troubles that damaged Britney, which led her to shave her head, be hospitalized twice, lose custody of her children, and eventually becoming the ultimate tabloid punch line?

Both Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears were born in the south during the winter, started their careers with Disney, shot to fame at an early age and became teen sensations, adored by thousands of screaming fans.

Managed by their mothers, Cyrus and Spears navigated the Hollywood life.

At the age of 11, Britney was cast as one of the members of the 'New Mickey Mouse Club' and began her path to fame. When she was 16, '(Hit Me) Baby One More Time' was released, propelling the singer to stardom.

After her first album hit the charts, she continued to have success with her music, with more number one hits, a Grammy win, successful tours and a starring role in the movie 'Crossroads.'

Miley's beginnings are very similar. When she was 12, Disney executives cast her as a young girl living a double life as a regular teen by day and a pop star by night.

Her role on TV's 'Hannah Montana' has spawned two chart-topping CDs, as well a sold-out concert tour and a 3-D feature film.

As Miley keeps rising, Britney keeps falling, despite her attempts at resurrection, like a stunt-casting on the CBS comedy 'How I Met Your Mother.'

Is Miley taking the pop princess crown that Britney once wore?

The paparazzi, who were once a constant at the 'Hit Me Baby' singer's side, have left her for the 'Hannah Montana' star.

"Over the [Easter] weekend, there were less than a half dozen covering Britney. Yet there were 30 in the pack covering Miley Cyrus. Most of them were Britney regulars, but they want something new and fresh. It's moved on to Miley," Buzzfoto founder Brad Elterman tells the New York Daily News.

Even South Park has tapped the Cyrus as the next Spears. In a recent episode, after the 26-year-old mother of two dies, the tabloids all turn to the 15-year-old as their next target.

With Britney's tragic lifestyle still under public scrutiny -- the breakdowns that lead to hospitalizations, losing custody of her two young sons, the court conservatorship which gives her father economic and legal control over her -- Miley has become the heir apparent to Britney's throne.

OMG, miley cyrus is the retardedest (is that a word?) person in the world, i mean she's supposed to be a role model for young kids but here she is taking half-nude shots, i really think it's wrong. i think she wont be as bad as britney but still will go down a baddd badd path, nywyas she cant sing or act, whats so great about her?????, her pictures on youtube are horrible, mean c'mon but compared to vanessa hudgens i guess shes not that bad

Miley is a sweet young girl . There is nothing wrong with her picture's . She is nothing like Britney in any way . People like to talk too much crap now a day;s . When did it become a bad thing for a Dad or a daughter to love one another . They are acting like she took off all her clothes . Or like her Dad did something wrong . His little girl is going to be a beautiful young women . What if she grows up and wan't's to pose for play boy or something like that . It would not make her a bad person . I say ride it as long as you can Disney it's not like you have not done that before . Leave them alone and let them enjoy what fame can give then . It is so hard to make a living out here . I hope it last for ever for them both . I have learned to love Billy Ray because of Miley . I think it is great that they love each other . PLEASE don't make something durty out of there love for each other . I would hate to see Miley afraid too show her Dad that she loves him .That would be wron

How is Miley a real "Christian" whenshe doesn'tact her age or act modestly. Pictures were already leaked with her showing her lingerie. Thats not very "Christian" to me. Its a hipocritical example.

I am not trying to bring her down or be negative, but Christianity in Hollywood or in the celebrity world is fake and all played out.

(How do you know a good tree from a bad tree? ...from their fruits.)
