Satellite Party First Listen
The Lowdown
Perry Farrell has been pushing musical boundaries since the start of his career
in the late-'80s. Now, the man that gave birth to Jane's
Addiction and Lollapalooza
is back with Satellite Party -- an ecclectic musical project that features a diverse
group of guests that includes Fergie,
Flea and John Frusciante from Red
Hot Chili Peppers, New
Order bassist Peter Hook, Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt, and even Jim
Morrison, who is resurrected through a long-lost 30-year-old vocal track.
'Ultra-Payloaded' hits stores on May 15. Listen to the world premieres of four of the album's tracks and read the commentary from Perry himself.
About the Album
"Our album, 'Ultra-Payloaded,' is a story expressed through music. The story centers around a group of people known as the Solutionists. They're a brain trust of artists, musicians, technology cats and fashionistas that plan these wonderful underground parties. They become experts at the art of public display. All the songs on the record tie into the story line, but here are some excerpts that go along with each song."

'Wish Upon a Dog Star' Feat. Fergie and Peter Hook "In my story, there is this fellow Dog Star who is from the Cannus Major constellation (also known as Sirius or the Dog Star). He is the one whose ambition is to send energy waves to unlock and cultivate radiations of love to all of us. He is the reason why there's a new consciousness that is starting to pervade across the planet that love will conquer all. When Dog Star and his entourage of sensuous dancers hit the party, the whole party breaks out in this amazing dance and really gets things going. Get your groove on, new shiny shoes on." ![]()
'Hard Life Easy' Feat. Flea and John Frusciante "The life of an artist can be very long and dark and sad at times, but in our story, the chief Solutionist finds true love -- and through this love, she has made his hard life easy. They stay together, they forge ahead with the Solutionists movement and they end up having a groovy life." ![]()
'Ultra-Payloaded Satellite Party' "A heavenly party hosted by heavenly hosts up in the stratosphere. Transformed souls, reborn and re-adorned as they wake up in the heavens at a satellite party. Think martinis served by rollerblading waiters, beautiful hats, sensual dancers crowded in an ultra grand ballroom. Everything is fully loaded -- it's the ultimate flash mob party in space." ![]()
'Insanity Rains' "The theme for one of the parties was dubbed 'Insanity Rains,' and what people were asked to do was bring umbrellas and wear raincoats (racy undergarments optional) and come out into the streets. Basically, they would be stopping traffic. They used text messaging and global position satellite to spread the information where the parties were going to be. The police intercepted the location of their next Flash Mob and sent a riot squad to bust up the party. I'll have to tell you the rest of the story some other time..." ![]()
