Paris Bennett Interview
CannonInMusic: What's happenin' Paris?!
NotOrdinaryParis: Alot is happenin now days, the album and video are out and there are interviews like crazy...Promotion as well everywhere
CannonInMusic: I could imagine. It seems like you've been extremely busy after Idol...
CannonInMusic: You should've won speaking of which! But we're not gonna get into that
NotOrdinaryParis: LOL thank you!!
CannonInMusic: Tell me about the album
NotOrdinaryParis: Well, the album in a few words is all me. My life and the things I have experienced and the things I'm currently experiencing.
CannonInMusic: So it's a personal record...sorta like an autobiography almost?
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah exactly
NotOrdinaryParis: Its me basically looking and telling about my life, but it relates to others my age, younger and older
CannonInMusic: What are some of the things that you've been through/going though? A lot of people are probably like "Wow she's a young girl, what issues have she possibly have faced?"
NotOrdinaryParis: Well, one topic I touch which is big for me is the issue of not having my father in my life..."Daddy" is a song where i'm asking him things that I haven't gotten a chance to ask him about, his reasoning for not being in my life...I'm again speaking for all the kids that grew up without a parent and may have been thinkin of these questions and never asked them
NotOrdinaryParis: I'm speaking out!! It needs to be heard...Fathers Day gets hard sometimes
CannonInMusic: I most definitely agree. It's almost like an epidemic of folks that grew up without one, I commend you for speaking out
NotOrdinaryParis: Thank You!
CannonInMusic: So you've got this song called 'Ordinary Love' so I'm curious lil' lady?what has been your experience with the 4 letter word?
NotOrdinaryParis: I haven't had the major experience with the 4 letter word yet, but I have been in the realm of bumping into it now that I am 18... there's so many people my age that think they no what it is and truth is we really don't
NotOrdinaryParis: but with "Ordinary Love," I'm giving my definition of what I think it means and thats "SOULMATE"!! I think if you're looking for love all you're really looking for is that person that connects with you in a way in which no one else can, and that's a great thing to know for both young and old...
CannonInMusic: Wow! Deep.....wise beyond your years, you are
NotOrdinaryParis: Thanks, I have alot of great peeps to thank for that!
CannonInMusic: Rumor has it you and Chicken Little are engaged
CannonInMusic: lol... j/k
NotOrdinaryParis: LOL.....
CannonInMusic: Who would you say is responsible for your upbringing and making you who you are today?
NotOrdinaryParis: I would have to give that credit to the 4 most important women in my life?My great grandmother (Shirley Bennett), grandmother (Ann Nesby), mother (Jamecia Bennett), and last but not least my great aunt (Marie Graham)
CannonInMusic: Seems like you've got some strong women around keeping you focused and giving you some serious backbone
NotOrdinaryParis: yeah
CannonInMusic: I guess singing must run in the genes cause your grandma is SERIOUS!!!
NotOrdinaryParis: yeah all 4 of those women SANGGG
CannonInMusic: And you're just carrying on tradition...
CannonInMusic: That's whatsup!
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah
CannonInMusic: Ok. So since you're young but seem to have gone through some things... I wanna pick your brain for a bit and have you go down memory lane...
CannonInMusic: you down?
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah lets go...
CannonInMusic: Aiight it's gonna be called "First"
CannonInMusic: and you either answer it when and how exactly, or "never"
NotOrdinaryParis: ok
CannonInMusic: First time you've been kissed/kissed somebody?
NotOrdinaryParis: In my great grandfather's church in Rockford, Illinois
CannonInMusic: How old were you?
NotOrdinaryParis: I was about 6
CannonInMusic: Uh oh watch out now!
CannonInMusic: lol
NotOrdinaryParis: lol yeah
CannonInMusic: First song you remember performing?
NotOrdinaryParis: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star...and I used to get stuck on the part "diamond in the sky" LOL
CannonInMusic: lol...aww that's cute
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah I know..
CannonInMusic: First time you had to slap the HELL outta somebody
NotOrdinaryParis: Well my first suspension from school was for that... It was in the 5th grade! LOL... 3 days, no school, hung out with moms!
CannonInMusic: I'm scared of you!
CannonInMusic: Princess P is GANGSTA
NotOrdinaryParis: She told me I couldn't be a Princess
CannonInMusic: Were you crushed?
NotOrdinaryParis: That's why I got suspended
CannonInMusic: I know that girl is probably going around now telling people "I know that girl! She slapped me in the 5th grade."
NotOrdinaryParis: LOL...
CannonInMusic: So I know you rap a little bit too right?
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah just a little bit, not to much though...I'll leave that to Lil' Mama
CannonInMusic: Do you remember the first rhyme you ever wrote?
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah..
CannonInMusic: Let me hear it
CannonInMusic: Just give me about 4 lines
NotOrdinaryParis: "If little girls were made like me...who would they be to hate on me...my jazzy style fresh like a breeze...Oh somebody feel me oopsy daisy might think I'm crazy...I'm far from crazy, I'm just amazing ..."
CannonInMusic: AH!
CannonInMusic: Let me find out!
NotOrdinaryParis: lol
CannonInMusic: How old were you when you wrote that?
NotOrdinaryParis: I was like 10
CannonInMusic: Dang, that's a throwback!
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah every now and then, I'll be in a freestyle battle with my homeboys and cousins and throw that in'
CannonInMusic: So we might see you on Wild-N-Out or Freestyle Friday pretty soon
CannonInMusic: I'd vote for you if I was a judge
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah ...
CannonInMusic: So with all of your success and being on TV and everything, have you noticed any change in how people deal with you?
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah a little bit..
CannonInMusic: People coming at you with their hand out?
CannonInMusic: "Paris let me hold something."
CannonInMusic: Stuff like that?
NotOrdinaryParis: yeah
CannonInMusic: How do you deal with it?
NotOrdinaryParis: I just try to keep it in perspective, cause when I don't help or pay attention to them, they say I'm changing
NotOrdinaryParis: but I carry a little note around with me every day that I wrote
CannonInMusic: What's that?
NotOrdinaryParis: It basically says..."I've learned alot. I've learned that life really happens while you're planning for the next change. When I was younger, I never thought I would be where I am today or thought that I'd even experience what I have thus far! Knowing that I'm going on to do big things with God as my guide, I've realized that I can't change who I am because the people around me are changing."
NotOrdinaryParis: Eventually, it's accounted for a change in my life
CannonInMusic: THAT'S HOT!
CannonInMusic: I might have to bite you on that one
CannonInMusic: I'll make sure I say this is a "Paris B. quote."
NotOrdinaryParis: Ok I'll send you an invoice
CannonInMusic: Cool I got chu!
NotOrdinaryParis: I write everyday a different quote for myself in my journal for me to go by
NotOrdinaryParis: It helps to get through each day
CannonInMusic: Could I read it someday?
CannonInMusic: ?
NotOrdinaryParis: Yeah its nothing I would publish
CannonInMusic: Hot
CannonInMusic: What's something you'd like to be remembered for? Like if you could go down in history as "____ " what would it be?
NotOrdinaryParis: I would like to be remembered for opening up the mind of people of all ages to placing themselves in positions of royalty
NotOrdinaryParis: When a women can say "I'm a Queen" or a little boy can say "I'm a Prince," it's not a form of being concieted. It's saying that you simply love yourself completely
NotOrdinaryParis: And if you do that, then its easier to pass it on to someone who hasn't yet been able to do that
NotOrdinaryParis: "I'm Officially Princessing You!!"
CannonInMusic: WELL SAID!
CannonInMusic: You're most definitely on your way, and any success you gain you very well deserve it
CannonInMusic: And hit the haters with your Tiara if you have to
NotOrdinaryParis: thanks a lot, I claim it everyday
NotOrdinaryParis: lol
CannonInMusic: Well Paris, I know you're on the grind like cofee beans and you've got to run
CannonInMusic: Thanks so much for stopping by and chatting with AOL Music.
CannonInMusic: Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans before you cut out?
NotOrdinaryParis: just to remember that "A dream has no limit unless you put one on it, so dream cause it's all real in the end!!"
NotOrdinaryParis: "They've Officially Been Princessed!!"
NotOrdinaryParis: Love, Paris aka Princess P
CannonInMusic: Make sure they go and get that CD right?
CannonInMusic: I'ma be the your hype man!
CannonInMusic: lol
NotOrdinaryParis: Oh! They can come chat with me on myspace.com/parisbennett or MSPARISBENNETT.com
