    Kellie Pickler Interview

    BevilleinNYC: hi Kellie!
BevilleinNYC: thanks so much for chatting with us today
KellieRedHiHeels: thank you for having me
BevilleinNYC: where are you IMing us from?
    KellieRedHiHeels: nashville, TN
    KellieRedHiHeels: home of country music
    KellieRedHiHeels: !!!
BevilleinNYC: have you moved to Nashvegas yet?
    KellieRedHiHeels: I have
BevilleinNYC: how do you like it so far?
    KellieRedHiHeels: I love it here
KellieRedHiHeels: everyone has welcomed me with open arms
BevilleinNYC: I used to live there...and I loved how you'd run into country stars in the frozen food aisle at Kroger!
    BevilleinNYC: :)
    KellieRedHiHeels: HA HA
    KellieRedHiHeels: I know
BevilleinNYC: have you been starstruck by anyone yet?
KellieRedHiHeels: I am planning to camp out at this restaurant that everyone says Dolly Parton eats at
KellieRedHiHeels: just so i can run into her
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
    BevilleinNYC: she is the BEST
    KellieRedHiHeels: I love her
    BevilleinNYC: really sweet lady too
KellieRedHiHeels: I haven't met her yet
    KellieRedHiHeels: but hope to soon
BevilleinNYC: so besides Dolly, who are some of your musical heroes?
KellieRedHiHeels: I am a sucker for the older country artists....Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, June Carter, Tammy Wynette....and so on
    BevilleinNYC: the legends!
BevilleinNYC: well, your album certainly is true to traditional country
KellieRedHiHeels: I am a big rock fan too
KellieRedHiHeels: I love Queen, Guns n Roses, Poison....etc
KellieRedHiHeels: I like all genres of music
KellieRedHiHeels: but my heart is in country music
BevilleinNYC: well you can certainly tell that on your album
    BevilleinNYC: it's terrific!
BevilleinNYC: let's talk about some of the songs you wrote on it
BevilleinNYC: starting with the first single, 'Red High Heels'
BevilleinNYC: it's about a real pair of shoes you own?
    KellieRedHiHeels: yes!
KellieRedHiHeels: 'Red High Heels' is one of my favorites because it expresses my love for shoes....ha ha
BevilleinNYC: so you admit to a shoe fetish? :)
KellieRedHiHeels: I wore these red high heels on American Idol
KellieRedHiHeels: and they were my favorite shoes
KellieRedHiHeels: so I created a girls anthem around them
KellieRedHiHeels: ha - I guess you can say that is my addiction
BevilleinNYC: well, that's at least a healthy addiction to have
KellieRedHiHeels: yeah...and now that I can actually afford it...it isn't so bad
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha ha
BevilleinNYC: I have to also ask about the sweet song about your grandmom...did you write that one too?
    KellieRedHiHeels: I did....
KellieRedHiHeels: my grandma had a huge part in raising me....she was not only my grandma...she was like my mom and my best friend
KellieRedHiHeels: now she is my angel
KellieRedHiHeels: so i dedicated the album to her as well
    BevilleinNYC: that is so sweet
BevilleinNYC: there are a lot of autobiographical songs on the album
BevilleinNYC: which one would you say you're the most proud of?
KellieRedHiHeels: I tried to put a piece of my life in each song....
KellieRedHiHeels: I am very proud of all of the songs
KellieRedHiHeels: 'I Wonder' was the hardest song to record
    KellieRedHiHeels: probably the most personal
KellieRedHiHeels: because I talk about my feelings toward my mom
BevilleinNYC: this album came out so quickly after 'American Idol'... You were the first from your season to put out an album, right?
    KellieRedHiHeels: yes
BevilleinNYC: were most of the songs written before A.I. or after?
KellieRedHiHeels: I wrote and recorded the songs on the American Idol tour this summer
KellieRedHiHeels: every day off I was in the studio
KellieRedHiHeels: so I finished the album before the tour ended
    BevilleinNYC: and you slept when?
    BevilleinNYC: haha
KellieRedHiHeels: I never sleep....I am like the energizer bunny
KellieRedHiHeels: I drink lots of red bulls!!
BevilleinNYC: 'Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind' made me laugh out loud
    KellieRedHiHeels: HA HA
    KellieRedHiHeels: thanks
KellieRedHiHeels: i think the lyrics are soooo true.....don't you?
    BevilleinNYC: absolutely!!!!
BevilleinNYC: I could add a few more verses for ya
    BevilleinNYC: ha
KellieRedHiHeels: I am singing exactly what a man's thinking
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
    BevilleinNYC: Speaking of men...
BevilleinNYC: all the single guys out there will kill me if I don't ask you...
    BevilleinNYC: what's your "type"?
    KellieRedHiHeels: most importantly.....
KellieRedHiHeels: they have to make me laugh.....personality is everything
    BevilleinNYC: agreed!
KellieRedHiHeels: looks will fade.....but personality lasts a lifetime
BevilleinNYC: Well, you won over the hardest guy ever to win over...
    BevilleinNYC: Simon Cowell!
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
    BevilleinNYC: he loved you!
KellieRedHiHeels: I guess you could say that I was lucky to be on his good side
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
BevilleinNYC: is the mean thing just an act with him?
    KellieRedHiHeels: honestly....I have no idea
KellieRedHiHeels: the only time we see the judges is when the show is airing live and we're performing
    BevilleinNYC: aha
KellieRedHiHeels: I don't know what they are like off camera
BevilleinNYC: do you keep in touch with any of your fellow contestants?
    KellieRedHiHeels: sure
    KellieRedHiHeels: Mandisa lives in nashville
KellieRedHiHeels: Bucky and his wife are moving to nashville soon
KellieRedHiHeels: Bucky is like the funniest guy I ever met
BevilleinNYC: nice! and with Carrie and Josh already there, you have your little Nashville-Idol posse
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
BevilleinNYC: have you gotten a chance to meet them yet?
KellieRedHiHeels: I know Carrie but haven't met Josh
BevilleinNYC: well, tough question...but if you could only buy one of your fellow contestant's albums...whose would it be?
    KellieRedHiHeels: MINE!!!
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
    KellieRedHiHeels: got cha
    BevilleinNYC: :)
BevilleinNYC: it really is great -- already on my iPod!
    KellieRedHiHeels: really?
    KellieRedHiHeels: thanks
BevilleinNYC: you've come a long way from your rollerskating waitress days!
    KellieRedHiHeels: I have!!!
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
BevilleinNYC: is there anything you miss about the old days...before you were famous?
KellieRedHiHeels: hopefully this album will do well and i will never have to put those skates on again!!!!
    BevilleinNYC: ha ha!
BevilleinNYC: so was that the worst job you've ever had?
    KellieRedHiHeels: I guess....
    KellieRedHiHeels: Flipping burgers
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
BevilleinNYC: I was a telemarketer once
    BevilleinNYC: that was the worst!
    KellieRedHiHeels: really
BevilleinNYC: I felt like I was calling Simon Cowell every time
KellieRedHiHeels: how many times did people hang up the phone on you
    BevilleinNYC: 9 times outta 10
    BevilleinNYC: :)
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
    KellieRedHiHeels: lol
BevilleinNYC: is it true you started singing before you started talking?
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha ha
    KellieRedHiHeels: I think so....
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
KellieRedHiHeels: I can't remember that far back
(Kellie leaves the chat briefly to watch her 'Red High Heels' video premiere on CMT)
    KellieRedHiHeels: ok I'm back
    BevilleinNYC: hi!
BevilleinNYC: just saw your video on TV!
    KellieRedHiHeels: did you like it?
    BevilleinNYC: so cool !!!!
KellieRedHiHeels: I think that was the most fun I have had since Idol
BevilleinNYC: your heart musta been pounding a mile a minute to see the video premiere
KellieRedHiHeels: Chris Hickey directed it.....he has done a lot of Keith Urban videos
KellieRedHiHeels: Chris was great to work with
    BevilleinNYC: I bet
KellieRedHiHeels: we were on the same page with everything
    BevilleinNYC: where'd you shoot it?
    KellieRedHiHeels: here in nashville
KellieRedHiHeels: we had sooo much fun shooting the video.....my sister is actually in it with me
    BevilleinNYC: that's your sister?!
KellieRedHiHeels: she is the blond in the back seat
    KellieRedHiHeels: sitting behind me
BevilleinNYC: that's great ? you made your acting debuts together!
KellieRedHiHeels: it was great to share the spotlight with her
    KellieRedHiHeels: good bonding experience
    BevilleinNYC: I bet!
BevilleinNYC: now...was your sister there cheering you along at the Miss Stanly County beauty pageant?
BevilleinNYC: you have to tell us about that!
    BevilleinNYC: :)
    BevilleinNYC: what did you sing?
KellieRedHiHeels: I sang Broken Wing....by Martina McBride
    KellieRedHiHeels: love that song
KellieRedHiHeels: and I sang that in my American Idol audition
BevilleinNYC: and at the Miss NC pageant?
    KellieRedHiHeels: yep
KellieRedHiHeels: one of my fave songs
BevilleinNYC: that's a great song...and you nailed it on Idol!!
    KellieRedHiHeels: thanks
BevilleinNYC: and it is not easy to sing a Martina song!
    KellieRedHiHeels: you're telling me
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
KellieRedHiHeels: those high notes will get you
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
BevilleinNYC: so maybe people will start comparing you to Martina now...instead of Jessica Simpson
    KellieRedHiHeels: ha
BevilleinNYC: who are you hearing comparisons to now?
    KellieRedHiHeels: I don't know
    KellieRedHiHeels: I love Dolly
KellieRedHiHeels: so that would be the biggest compliment
BevilleinNYC: would you ever think about asking Dolly, or another one of your heroes to collaborate with you on a song?
    KellieRedHiHeels: absolutely
KellieRedHiHeels: I would love to write a song with Dolly
KellieRedHiHeels: and be able to record it
KellieRedHiHeels: she is who I would have chosen to sing with on the finale of Idol
    BevilleinNYC: that woulda been spectacular
BevilleinNYC: well, maybe on a CMT special or something!
BevilleinNYC: we'll keep our fingers crossed
    KellieRedHiHeels: that would be great
    KellieRedHiHeels: yep
BevilleinNYC: and you were certainly a great collaborator with Jay Leno!
    KellieRedHiHeels: thanks
KellieRedHiHeels: that was a lot of fun
BevilleinNYC: had so much fun watching you interview on the MTV red carpet
    KellieRedHiHeels: thanks
BevilleinNYC: who was the coolest person you interviewed?
KellieRedHiHeels: Sandra Bullock was sooo funny
    KellieRedHiHeels: she was so nice
BevilleinNYC: I bet! do you think she watched Idol?
KellieRedHiHeels: she said that she did watch it
KellieRedHiHeels: which is crazy to think that these celebrities that I have looked up to actually knew who i was
BevilleinNYC: If you could pick any movie star to play you in a film about your life, who would it be?
KellieRedHiHeels: If I could pick someone it would be....Reese Witherspoon
    KellieRedHiHeels: I just love her
    BevilleinNYC: a fellow Nashvillian!
    KellieRedHiHeels: she is so classy
    KellieRedHiHeels: and a great actress
    BevilleinNYC: absolutely
BevilleinNYC: ok, I know you've gotta run. but thanks so much for chatting with us!
BevilleinNYC: and I will leave you with one last question...

    KellieRedHiHeels: NEVER!!!!
    BevilleinNYC: ha
    KellieRedHiHeels: lol
KellieRedHiHeels: I still have nightmares about it
BevilleinNYC: there are some great sushi joints in Nashville though... seriously.
    BevilleinNYC: ha!
KellieRedHiHeels: I still haven't had sushi yet

    KellieRedHiHeels: alrighty....take care!!
    BevilleinNYC: thanks so much!!
    KellieRedHiHeels: thank you

BevilleinNYC is homesick for Nashville pancakes and bumping into Kenny Chesney at Target.
