Kiminmusic: your character in the film, Alex Fletcher, is a former 80s pop star ...
Kiminmusic: what was it like walking in THOSE shoes?
HughMusicLyrics: surprisingly exciting. I found myself strangely aroused by my new gazelle like figure!
Kiminmusic: lol
Kiminmusic: you did wear some awesomely tight pants for the part
Kiminmusic: did you have to undergo special training for those?
HughMusicLyrics: I wore special training trousers, rather like a girl's training bra
Kiminmusic: yes ... i guess sort of like spanks Kiminmusic: so what was your favorite part about playing Fletcher?
Kiminmusic: the clothes? the hair?
Kiminmusic: kissing Drew Barrymore?
HughMusicLyrics: the hair obviously. It was bought from the heads of six different Romanian women and lovingly woven onto my scalp
Kiminmusic: haha...that must have taken a long time ...
Kiminmusic: what did you do to keep focused? i heard Jim Carrey had to do self-calming exercises in his Grinch-suit ... something like that?
HughMusicLyrics: I relied heavily in this film - especially for the dancing element - on Dr Whiskey and Nurse Valium
Kiminmusic: lol
Kiminmusic: i checked out the 'Pop' music video - it's amazing
Kiminmusic: you really do have some sweet dance moves - have you always had those in your arsenal?
HughMusicLyrics: My dancing has always been a source of shame to me. As a young man, women in discos would whisper in my ear "are you joking?"
Kiminmusic: i'm dying ... that must have been damaging
Kiminmusic: i would have smiled, nodded and slowly excused myself
Kiminmusic: so you really sing in this film ... the soundtrack was #1 on itunes - that is huge!
Kiminmusic: the lyrics to some of the songs are jaw-droopingly brilliant
Kiminmusic: "i was living in the past but somehow you've brought me back/and I haven't felt like this since before frankie said relax"
Kiminmusic: do you still sing these songs?
Kiminmusic: you know, in the shower ... or where ever? :)
HughMusicLyrics: I do. I sing them at full throttle when walking down the street.
HughMusicLyrics: Is that normal or should I be over them by now?
Kiminmusic: i don't know ... again, #1 on itunes ... i fully support ruffling feathers
Kiminmusic: so to summon your inner 80s pop star, did you look to any real-life bands for inspiration?
HughMusicLyrics: I watched a lot of Wham, a lot of Duran Duran and even a certain amount of Tom Jones but the spirit of the 80's lives very strong in me anyway.
HughMusicLyrics: it was the last time I remember being happy.
Kiminmusic: well, with those bands as your soundtrack, it would be hard NOT to reach peak happiness, in my opinion
Kiminmusic: anything in particular that you're listening to these days?
HughMusicLyrics: I pretend to be listening to Amy Winehouse and The Killers but am in fact listening to the military band of the Grenadier Guards playing Colonel Bogey
Kiminmusic: lol
Kiminmusic: we had Amy in our studio the other day ... apparently she likes to booze
Kiminmusic: first concert you ever saw?
HughMusicLyrics: I saw Elton John and Rod Stewart and Nazareth share the bill at Watford football stadium in about 1972.
HughMusicLyrics: i can't tell you much about it because I was twelve and had just smoked 18 of my brother's cigarettes. I had to be revived by ambulance people

Kiminmusic: was talking to some ladies in the office this morning and we decided that you are the hottest on-screen kisser ... ever
Kiminmusic: can you drop some knowledge for the guys out there?
HughMusicLyrics: Wrap up warm.

Kiminmusic: so you have a wax figure at Madame Toussards ?
Kiminmusic: what's it like to know that you exist in wax ... in Times Square?
HughMusicLyrics: Yes, I modeled for it some years ago. But I think something has gone wrong. I now look like my lesbian sister
Kiminmusic: lol
Kiminmusic: that could really mess up your dating market ... think about all the Midwestern tourists!
Kiminmusic: you played piano in the film, you strummed a little guitar in 'About a Boy' ... ever think about making music?
HughMusicLyrics: Thanks to the success of this album, I now consider myself a major recording artist and wish to be treated accordingly. Panties may be sent to me directly or via my agent.

Kiminmusic: what do you think of actors like Val Kilmer and Russell Crowe making albums?
Kiminmusic: think they have a shot?
HughMusicLyrics: I wish them every luck, but it's difficult to be as talented and successful as me.
HughMusicLyrics: I should say before I go that credit for the positively sinister success of this soundtrack should go to the brilliant song writers Adam Schlesinger and Andy Blakemore and to the kindly circus trainers-Michael Rafter and Bob Schaper amongst others who made a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
HughMusicLyrics: I must go now. I have a concert.
Kiminmusic: ha ... ok - well, before you go, my boyfriend wanted me to tell you that he loved you in 'The Lair of the White Worm'
HughMusicLyrics: A lot of drug addicts say that.
