The dance-rock outfit Young Love are headed by Dan Keyes, who served as frontman for the post-grunge band Recover from 2001 to 2004. After releasing three albums with that Austin-based band, Keyes relocated from Texas to New York City in search of a change of pace. Within the span of a year, he had amassed a number of slick, stylish songs that had more in common with Bloc Party and Action Action than the aggressive sounds of Recover. Young Love were born, and a record deal with Island Def Jam surfaced before the end of 2005. With help from a handful of backing musicians, Keyes began testing his new material in Lower East Side nightspots during the summer of 2006; shows with Head Automatica coincided with those early gigs. "Discotech," an advance single from the band's debut album, was released that October, and the full-length Too Young to Fight It followed in January 2007. ~ Andrew Leahey, All Music Guide
