What The Critics Say

Retiring CCM duo Watermark caps off their career with A Grateful People, a live album recorded at their farewell show. Recorded in front of a small audience at their hometown church in Brentwood, TN, this 65-minute set is an intimate overview of the career of husband-and-wife team of producer/guitarist Nathan Nockels and singer Christy Nockels, including guest appearances from friends like Chris Tomlin, Point of Grace, and Charlie Hall, with whom the Nockels had previously performed in the quartet Sons and Daughters. Having tended toward the more soft rock/adult contemporary side of contemporary Christian music for most of their career, there's little gospel-style intensity to this music, even on the audience participation tune "Take Me There," but the duo performs with verve and obvious enthusiasm throughout. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide

What The Critics Say

Following the release of Watermark's June 2000 album, All Things New, much occurred in the lives of husband and wife duo Nathan and Christy Nockels. In addition to Dove Award nominations and Nathan's growing demand as a producer, the pair welcomed their first child, Noah Luke Nockels, in the summer of 2000. After a full and joyful two years, April 2002 saw the release of the group's third studio album, Constant. Of the release, vocalist and songwriter Christy Nockels shares the following (quote provided by Rocketown Records): "God is constant, and He has been pursuing each of us all the days of our lives even before we were born. His heart is for His people to be constant after Him and to be running after Him. Life is losing ourselves in that pursuit. That's what brings real life and fulfillment. The songs on Constant come out of our lives, out of who we are and what God has called us to do. We wanted this record to communicate that we're here to stay, that we know writing and recording songs is what we're called to be doing. Just as God and His character are constant, I want that to be true about Watermark, that we'd have integrity even though life gets harder and harder." The 2002 project offers listeners a much earthier and less pop-influenced sound than Watermark's previous two albums. All ten songs are gentle and melodic in nature, resonating with uplifting and at times soothing notes of praise, thankfulness, and remembrance of God's constant love. The songs include "Seek Me," "Holy," and "Remember." ~ Ashleigh Kittle, All Music Guide

What The Critics Say

Watermark, composed of husband and wife duo Nathan and Christy Nockels, released their sophomore project, All Things New, in 2000. Due to the outburst in praise and worship albums in the Christian music market beginning in 1998, All Things New could not have been released at a more perfect time. Issued by Rocketown Records, the album is acoustic praise and worship blended with CCM. The ten tracks, penned by the duo, offer upbeat guitar rhythms and gentler, more intimate guitar melodies. Songs range from the project's first radio single, "More Than You'll Ever Know," a song celebrating the joys of friendship, to "Glory Baby," which deals with the pain of a miscarriage and God's comfort in grief. Overall, All Things New is an uplifting, upbeat, and inspiring release, both musically and lyrically. ~ Ashleigh Kittle, All Music Guide
