Romantic Tenors compiles performances of long songs by José Carreras, Placido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti, three of the world's greatest tenors. This release by Decca alternates performances by the three, only once stacking successive performances by Carreras. Some of the songs performed by Pavarotti include Che Gelida Manina, Caruso, and Chitarra Romana; songs by Domingo include Mucho Mucho, Mattinata, and El Día Que Me Quieras; and songs by Carreras include Core 'Ngrato, You Belong to My Heart, and Passione. Attempting to re-create the triumph of their debut The Three Tenors in Concert 1994, the Three Tenors reunited on July 10, 1998 for a grand concert in Paris to celebrate France's hosting of the 1998 World Cup. This time supported by conductor James Levine and the Orchestre de Paris, as well as arranger Lalo Schifrin, the Three Tenors gave another superlative performance. None of the songs on Paris 1998, the recorded document of the concert, appeared on their first album, and they're a remarkably diverse and welcoming set, highlighted by the show-stopping "Medley of the World."
