currently addicted to: the maldives “listen to the thunder”

- Source: Captains Dead

sure, the maldives record listen to the thunder came out in 09, and there is no word on anything new coming out but that aint stoppin me! i have listened to it quite a bit since i first discovered it sometime last year, but as of late its really hitting hard. to my ears, its almost a perfect record. stuff i wasnt hearing a a year ago, i am now. its very much like how i fell in love with the everybodyfields nothing is okay , just kept on listening, paying attention and just burrowed itself way the fuck into my tiny little brain. if you didnt listen to me a year ago, please do listen now and pick this thing up. you can buy it/download listen to the thunder for 8.99 or if you use rdio , which is probably the best subscription based music app for android or iphone, they have it on there. woah! that's a lot dudes, and a lot of beard action. seriously though, who has 9 band members besides lambchop? im trying to think, and i cant think of any. ok, well actually the e street band has 9+ members. regardless, it doesnt matter if there's 2 of em or 22, what does matter is their stuff any good? in the case of seattle's the maldives and their record listen to the thunder , hell yeah it is. at this point in the record, im on track 6 "tequila sunday," they're reminding me of a cross tween early my morning jacket, awesome, and faithless street era whiskeytown, awesomer. really if you like one of them bands, you probably like the other, and in theory should love/seriously like the maldives. listen to the thunder came out last year on mt. fuji records. btw, im on track 8 as of right now, "the new one," and yeah this is kicking loads of ass. if i did a best new music thing, this would be damn near the top.

- Source: Captains Dead

morning! wanted to briefly revisit the maldives' listen to the thunder for a brief moment. i featured em a few months ago, and much like the futurebirds record, this one keeps gettin better and better. it was released in 09, but honestly its my favorite record i have heard this year. you can pick it up via mt fuji records , and i highly recommend doing so. my only problem is that i dont think tequila sunday is great representation of the record. its a great song, no doubt, but i wouldve picked something else. just my 2 cents.
