Personnel changes ensued and the version of the band we came to know and love was cemented in 1962, which consisted of lead singer and keyboardist Mike Smith, guitarist Lenny Davidson, bassist Rick Huxley, drummer Dave Clark and saxophonist Denny Payton.

Born out of a rugby team fundraiser, the Dave Clark Five went on to chart sixteen Top 30 singles in the US, including their lone Number 1, "Over and Over." Drummer Dave Clark and guitarist Chris Walls formed the Dave Clark Five in 1958 for a gig at the Tottenham Youth Club to raise money for their rugby team.
