Back on Broadway finds the Broadway Kids in their element, performing a dozen old and new show tune favorites like Cats' "Jelllicle Songs for Jellicle Cats," The Lion King's "I Just Can't Wait to Be King," and Rent's "Seasons of Love." The most successful numbers spotlight one or two of the Kids, as on "Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)" and "I Feel Pretty." The "Bye Bye Birdie Medley," "You Gotta Have Heart," and "Broadway Babies" are some of the collection's other highlights, avoiding the occasionally brassy singing that pops up on numbers like "Beauty and the Beast" and "Corner of the Sky." On Sing Christmas, the Broadway Kids perform a baker's dozen of holiday favorites and original Christmas songs, including "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." The Kids' showy, theatrical delivery of songs like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is either cute or cutesy, depending on your tastes and frame of mind; their simpler approach on tracks like "Sleigh Ride" and "Jingle Bells" wears much better. The original songs range from the decent ("We Need a Little Christmas") to the embarrassing (the album-closing "Christmas Gift Rap").
