Emerging in the wake of Dave Matthews' tremendous success, Syd is another dynamic performer that relies on an uptempo sounds and percussive guitar style. Born in raised in Vermont, Syd started as a drummer but moved to the guitar at the age of 15. With the advent of the net, Syd began posting his music on the internet and teamed with MP3.com to release a debut record. Gaining a fanbase through his efforts online, Syd moved to Boston and met drummer Jason Gardner while going to college. They decided to work together, and the two began recording Week Days, Weak Knees in Gardner's apartment. Self-released, the record started selling well and Syd began to up his performance schedule to promote the album.
