In addition to owning a powerful, affecting voice, Russ Taff is among CCM's most versatile performers. Right Here Right Now is among his more introspective efforts, exploring issues of strength, frailty, and the trials and joys of maintaining strong religious faith in the face of human imperfection. Taff is more confessional than many of his CCM peers, coming off as all the more effective in his message through his refusal to sugarcoat. Overall, a fine return to the recording arena. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
With the aid of Nashville's elite studio musicians, Russ Taff makes a joyful noise on "Bein' Happy," the album opener on Winds of Change. Taff and gang then tackle topics such a marriage, love, and heartache with mixed results. Highlights include "I Cry" and the title track. Taff is a fine vocalist who is adept in country, rock, and gospel music. Unfortunately, not all the material on Winds of Change is as strong as Taff's voice. ~ Tim Griggs, All Music Guide
A Christmas Song, the holiday album from Russ Taff, is a smooth blend of big band and jazz, offering song after song reminiscent of classic holiday movies including White Christmas. The 1992 project, released by Sparrow Records, carries the feeling of a holiday season of the past, transporting listeners back to the 1930s and 1940s. Tracks include "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and "Let It Snow, Let It Snow." ~ Ashleigh Kittle, All Music Guide
The musical roots of most CCM artists lie pretty close to the surface, but that's not the case with Taff, the son of a Pentecostal evangelist who preached in California migrant territory. Here Taff pays tribute to Blind Willie Johnson, Brother Joe May, and Mahalia Jackson, among others, with an album that provides the link between gut-level gospel and Southern rock. ~ Brian Mansfield, All Music Guide
The second solo set showcases '80s pop styles and hooky songs, resulting in a CCM classic. ~ Thom Granger, All Music Guide
This self-titled effort finds Taff trying to find himself. A cathartic album, it's less accessible but deeply felt. ~ Thom Granger, All Music Guide
Taff serves up his best effort here, a blend of well-crafted acoustic pop and roots rock that deserved to be heard beyond the walls of CCM. ~ Thom Granger, All Music Guide
