Lisa Hannigan Gains Confidence as a Solo Act With Ray LaMontagne's Help

- Source: Spinner

When Lisa Hannigan made her first album, 2008's 'Sea Sew,' she wasn't the most comfortable solo performer -- understandably, given that she had spent six of the previous seven years recording and touring with Damien Rice. It's a more confident Hannigan who returns with a new album, 'Passenger' (out now on ATO Records), which the Irish singer and songwriter recorded in a mere week with producer Joe Henry.

Thinking about it, I guess I'd consider myself to be somewhat late to the Ray LaMontagne party; I got Gossip in the Grain back when it came out, and while I love LaMontagne's voice, his music is so emotionally draining to me that I can't listen to it in perpetuity.

ray lamontagne :: pompano beach, fl

- Source: Music is Art

last thursday evening of november 5th, 2010, the south florida rain kept on pouring so hard that it was wondered if the ray lamontagne show at the pompano beach amphitheater would be canceled. however, nothing seemed to stop the fans from coming into the outside venue to see the show. like magic just as ray went on stage, the night sky seemed to stop the rain and the air became so crisp and cool, while ray's voice echoed almost too perfectly, sounding just like a recording, although you knew it was real. being able to witness ray lamontagne perform live in that rainy setting was very special. his songs had a soft tone to them and his poetic lyrics gave so much emotion towards love and relationships, but deep beneath it all -- he sang with a true passion and heartbreak. some call his music country, folk, rock, however no genre seemed to matter with a voice like his. as he sang "new york city's killing me", it was easy to understand every word he shared. ray lamontagnes's band the pariah dogs were pros, playing their instruments as a whole so tight, seeming as if they had been playing together for years. familiar songs like "let it be me", "you are the best thing" and "trouble" made the eclectic audience of young to old happy during each track, as they screamed, cried, and gave standing ovations.

Ray LaMontagne & The Pariah Dogs, 'For the Summer' -- New Song

- Source: AOL Radio Blog

Ray LaMontagne asks his lover if he can come home 'For the Summer,' on his new single off Ray LaMontagne & The Pariah Dogs' fourth album 'God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise.' Dulcet acoustic guitars, wailing harmonica and breathy, brokenhearted vocals set the tone for a folksy tune about rekindling a relationship: "I could slow down for a little while / Get back to loving each other / Leave all those long and lonesome miles behind."
