After earning so much critical acclaim over the shocking stylistic about-face of their last project, 2009′s aurally captivating Mariachi El Bronx , it seems L.A. hardcore band The Bronx have opted on keeping their punk aggression in studio form at bay just a little while longer to soldier on with a second release under their mariachi alter ego , a choice we can get behind, considering how the now-seven-piece band left us slobbering for more after that first album's oh-so-charming execution of the classic Mexican genre. "48 Roses" is the first sample of Mariachi El Bronx (II) , and like everything else the side project have produced previously, the track is an instant winner, hooking the ears from second one with its vivacious layers of spicy musicality transporting the listener smack-dab into the merriest of fiestas alongside the melodrama of singer Matt Caughthran crooning his heart out the apologies of a man who can't wrap his mind and heart around the idea of monogamy ("With four different lovers and 48 roses/ I need a confessional that never closes).
