Diplo has shared his thoughts on the current state of the music industry in a new interview with the Huffington Post. Explaining why Major Lazer had to change record labels, Diplo said: "Interscope dropped [us] when we asked for money for a video for 'Get Free' [Major Lazer's killer collab with Amber of Dirty Projectors] and we sold 150,000 copies of that song. So that just proves that labels have no idea what's going on anymore. They just want to jump on EDM dick, shit that sucks because they don't feel the music but think it's happening. We are in these streets."

Outside of the Caribbean's occasional blip on mainstream music culture's radar ( Shaggy , Kevin Lyttle , Sean Paul , early Rihanna ), and the unimpeachable Dynamite! series from Soul Jazz Records, chances are the first time most people stateside were really exposed to the vibrant, infectious sounds of contemporary reggaeton and dancehall was on Major Lazer 's 2009 debut Guns Don't Kill People, Lazers Do.. .
