The Lee's Summit North boys basketball team was just a few points away from a spot in the finals of the Webster Groves Shootout last weekend but had to settle for third, going 2-1on the weekend.
The Broncos used a strong second half on the defensive end to earn a 50-37 win over Belvidere North High School out of Chicago, Ill., in Saturday night's third-place game.
"We had a sluggish performance early with the game tied at 19 at the half. We picked up our defensive intensity and created turnovers," Broncos head coach Mike Hilbert said.
North used a 12-5 scoring edge in the third quarter to get some breathing room and then a 19-13 edge in the fourth put the game away.
