Frank Yang It might seem like an act of massive hubris for a brand-new band from abroad to book a North American tour with no official release, not even a handful of released songs, and barely a month's worth of experience performing live, but Sweden's Kate Boy did just that in rolling into Wrongbar on Sunday night for the third of six dates on this continent.

Vancouver band Sunshine is treated to a remix here from Toronto's Jeremy Glenn , who blends equal parts UK funky and glowing, Italo-flecked disco sounds on his version of "French Exit." Glenn throws everything from the original track right out the window, save for the basic melodies hiding somewhere in that running bassline; the vocals are shuffled and tossed up into the air, coming down only to melt with the synthwork that gradually fades into the mix.

As you know, I'm already a big fan of Elk (whose latest, Daydreams , is on my Heavy Rotation list), and I've been equally impressed this summer by Dusted (whose Total Dust LP is also on Heavy Rotation), so imagine my surprise to find out that Elk's Josh Korody and Dusted's Leon Taheny are partners at Candle recording Studios in Toronto.
