What The Critics Say

At first hand, because of their good compositions and the loudness of the songs, it is not obvious to guess that there are only two guitars and a drum set in Lapse of Purpose. But that has been the lineup of Limbo since their fist EP entitled Limbo. In this second production, not a real LP still, but a collection of six tracks, the band displays its ability to write and play a music of an incredible maturity: they have indeed nothing to envy to Les Thugs, even if the eldest band had toured in the States with many famous bands. Things will also come in time for this other Angers based group. Difficult to make a selection when there are only six tracks on an album, but when they prove themselves to be of the same kind, the choice becomes simply impossible. However, because of its energy and perhaps since it is the opening piece of Lapse of Purpose, "Freefall" seems to be destined to become a classic. "Dance Is?," with the alternation of loud guitar riffs and cooler dub-influenced passages, is so catchy it will inescapably make the audience move their heads. In fact, the constant alternations in the music is probably the secret of the Limbo style. And for the final touch, the three members sing; that gives a richness, an original range of voices for a band who, on purpose or not, remains off the beaten track. ~ Romain Guillou, All Music Guide
