Kashana Green, better known as Kween Kash, was born to Trinidadian parents in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. She knew she wanted to be involved with music at a young age and, later on, as a college radio DJ, she honed her skills by freestyling with her guests. Though predominantly a rapper, she skillfully incorporates reggae and soca and sounds at home in any of these settings, reflecting her love for the likes of Lauryn Hill, Lady Saw, and the Notorious B.I.G.
