From scrap metal to sculpture.This angel statue was installed outside the Dahl Arts Center Thursday, while the weather was cooperating.It was created by local artist John Lopez who's known for sculpting several of the presidential bronzes in downtown Rapid City. An exhibit featuring Lopez's work opens at the Dahl on January 15th.Mary Maxon, the Dahl's curator of exhibits, says, "We designed that space with bringing sculptures in mind, to put sculptures there so that we could highlight either what's in the galleries or just using it It's a good opportunity for more people to see what we're doing here.Curator Mary Maxon says Lopez's work will be featured at the Dahl through March.She says the Dahl would like to keep the angel longer, if Lopez lets them.
