The-Dream 's current single "Slow It Down" may have yet to (and likely won't ever will) fulfill its mission in booting pop and large chunk of R&B's current All EDM Everything motto, but even while the track's lack of commercial success only brings more weight to the continuing reality of the Grammy-winner never making it to the upper-tier of urban-pop solo stars, it doesn't take away from the fact that he remains one of the more interesting self-contained acts out there in the genre, his growing catalog of candy-coated melodies, so-silly-they're-brilliant hooks, expert Minneapolis funk-inspired workouts and dry-hump-evoking bedroom grooves more than enough to keep his critic-heavy cult fanbase satisfied.
