Graduated in Communications at San Diego's State University, Innis was captivated by Latin music while listening to José Alfredo Jimémez, he moved to Cuernavaca in 1997 to learn Spanish and to Mexico City in 1998 to take singing, dancing, and guitar classes. Innis, who also expresses his feelings through his paintings, signed to BMG in July of 1998.
