The British press being what it is, much of the attention Idha received in the U.K. was generated by her marriage to Andy Bell, guitarist in the British alternative rock band Ride. The Swedish singer-songwriter (who sings in unaccented English) is talented enough to stand on her own merits, though Bell does play guitar on her 1994 debut album. That record, Melody Inn, established her as a singer and composer of modest promise, with an oddly retro feel that was more akin to late '60s/early '70s folk-country-rock than '90s alternative sounds.
