If you've ever read The Devil in the White City then you're familiar with the true crime story chronicled therein, [SPOILER ALERT] in which a serial killer in Chicago lures young women to gruesome deaths within a hastily and shadily constructed "Murder Castle" just blocks from the 1893 World's Fair. It's a great book, made all the more chilling by the knowledge that these events actually happened and that author Erik Larson conducted painstaking research to ensure historical accuracy despite the book's format as a novel.
