"We started writing a kind of joke description of someone who was quite greedy and it quickly turned into something else: Both a study of how gluttony and avarice look pretty ugly when they're on steroids, and how these things are at the heart of how our economic system work. We started this song way back, and the financial crisis hit while we were writing it which added fuel to the song. I just saw on the news 10 minutes ago ­ a record number of foreclosures in the States this month. We had the 'greed is good' decades but when pay-back time hit no one had the dough. ­ Oh yeah, me and [vocalist] Jon [King]­ always on the money!"
