The soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's stylish film adaptation of the The Great Gatsby boasts a varied list of all-star contributors, featuring songs from Jay-Z (who executive-produced the collection), Beyoncé, Andre 3000, Jack White, The xx, and Lana Del Rey. Also lending her talents is none other than Florence and the Machine 's Florence Welch, who has provided her epic vocals to the slow-building anthem "Over the Love." Centering itself around the lines " Cause you're a hard soul to save with an ocean in the way, but I'll get around it," the song clearly makes reference to Gatsby's nightly gaze across the water to East Egg and the symbolic green light on the dock where Daisy lives.

there's something about first hearing a studio recording of a song, and then getting the chance to witness the beauty of it live. florence and the machine's new single no light no light from their 2012 album ceremonials is a great example of this. no matter which way the song is heard a darkness can be truly attributed within the lost lyrics and feeling. recently, florence and the machine created an mtv unplugged session in a chapel with brightly colored candles, stained glass windows and dim lighting, perfectly fitting for an angelic funeral of sorts. one of those moments that seemed so perfect was watching florence welch effortlessly glow while stripping down "no light no light" to a soft acoustic intensity, where each time she sang the intensity rose against heavenly harp stings pulled ever so gently against the sound of light piano keys drifting off in the background.
