A Missouri appeals court has ruled against Kansas City in its bid to move graves on Kansas City International Airport property that would have allowed for more economic development.
The Missouri Court of Appeals-Western District earlier this month upheld a Platte County circuit judge's decision that denied city officials an order allowing them to move the graves.
The appeals court found that the circuit court did not abuse its discretion in finding that no good cause existed to disinter the remains in the four cemeteries and move them to a new cemetery.
"We are disappointed in the appellate court's decision, but it doesn't change the way planes take off and land here," said David Long, the city's deputy of aviation in charge of properties and commercial development. Read More
