Collardgreen

Collardgreen Biography

Alongside frequent collaborator Lil' Ru, Columbia, SC, rapper/producer and all-around entertainer Collardgreen (aka Adrian Taylor) blew up the local underground circuit in his native South Carolina state during the mid-2000s. Although the Southern crunk hitmaker enjoyed some Billboard chart exposure appearing on fellow Columbia artist Davyne's 2003 single "Can't Hang," his local status has come from heavily working clubs and releasing tons of bootleg mixtapes, especially the Hustle Hard series made jointly with Lil' Ru. Through his label Head Hunter Records, which he co-owns with Lil' Ru and producer 9Million, he has also cut a number of club singles that have been big on South Carolina radio. When major labels started showing interest in Collardgreen in response to his 2006 hit "Everybody Looking," there were only a few official releases to his name, including a maxi-single, Hey You! Shorty What's Yo Name (2004), and a featured track ("Where U From?") on the compilation Murder Dog Presents South Carolina (2004). ~ Cyril Cordor, All Music Guide
