Pacific Marine Mammal Center was surprised – to say the least – to receive a $5,700 cash donation on Christmas Eve. Volunteer JoAnn Smith recounts: "On Christmas Eve, as I went to check on our two in the nursery a lady came to the front door. I wished her a merry Christmas and invited her in to see our patients as I began to tell her about PMMC and what we do here. She then told me what a great thing we do and how much she cares about animals and wanted to give us a donation. She pulled out what appeared to be a lot of cash and handed me some money. I was so taken back by her generosity that tears started flowing down my face and I gave her a big hug and told her she was our Christmas angel and thanked her for helping us. She then proceeded to give me additional money and, of course, I cried more and hugged her again. She wanted to be anonymous and said she had to leave but thanked us for what we do. A little girl was standing by the door with her mother and said something to the lady and asked her why do you do this and she told her she was rich and this was her way of helping. After she left I counted the money and it was $5,700. I was shocked and have to say as passionate as I am about the animals and this center it really made my Christmas that someone was this generous and kind to help us." Read More
