Battles: Dross Glop

- Source: Prefix Magazine

Envy not the artists assembled on Dross Glop , the CD compilation of experimental kingpins Battles' four LP remix series, for the task they were given was challenging in sound and sensitive in nature, carrying a lot more weight than the typical remix project.

Battles - Dross Glop

Considering the combined elements of a fantastic source material and a fantastic team of remix artists, the new Battles record Dross Glop should be, well, fantastic.

ATP Nightmare Before Christmas 2011 In Review

- Source: The Quietus

All Tomorrow's Parties commendable line-ups have, it should be noted, featured occasional occurrence fit to send you diving for a well-thumbed Oxford Dictionary to triple-check that the definition of 'fun' hasn't altered while you weren't looking.

I can't say I've actively followed Battles … more like remained aware of their presence through my peripheral (I think they're after me), and that came more from my love for drummer John Stanier.

battles: ice cream

- Source: Cows Are Just Food

brilliant bit of neon skree and clatter at the arches last night from battles. developed a nice bright plastic sheen over their shiny titanium skeleton. was i the only one who could give or take tyondai braxton? the only one who maybe preferred most of the ep's to some of mirrored? anyway they've carried on as normal and there ain't no goofy voiced big haired hole there. john stanier's still making rhythm an ironman endurance trial. like his kit should be shouting 'take it bitch' in his face. ian williams and dave konopka still confusing you with noises from various things that sound like noises from other things. guitars that sound like steel drums fucksake. new record gloss drop's aces and sounds mighty fine live too. makes them seem a bit more human, a bit less manmachine. kinda digging the fact they didn't play atlas. and ice cream (video above by canada ) may well be the best stupidly complicated summer pop hit written by buncha hardcore fellas ever. pleased me they have.
