Consistent, workmanlike big band arrangements and solos were on display throughout the eight cuts featured on Seems Like Old Times, a 1987 CD spotlighting the Ashley Alexander Big Band. This was Alexander's fourth big band release, and it didn't differ from the others. The songs included versions of Charlie Shavers, Jule Styne, and Antonio Carlos Jobim classics, plus three supplied by keyboardist Frank Mantooth, who doubled as the band's principal arranger. There's nothing disturbing here, although there's also nothing surprising. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
