Al Tariq was originally known as Kool Ass Fashion (Fashion for short) when he got involved with the legendary Beatnuts crew with Psycho Les and JuJu. He was part of their Intoxicated Demons EP, released in 1993. He decided to change his name to Al Tariq after converting to Islam, and went on a solo mission. He released his first solo album, entitled God Connections, in 1996, following up with Kool Fresh in 1997. ~ Brad Mills, All Music Guide
