A public preliminary assessment hearing pertaining to the $504,000 reconstruction of a city street on the east side of town was held Monday, Nov. 16 at City Hall. Cresco City Engineer Daren Sikkink of WHKS presented the public with an updated plan to replace existing asphalt pavement and concrete on 1st Ave. E., from 2nd to 5th St. and on 4th St. E., from Highway 9 to 1st Ave. Originally, the reconstruction plan would have had property owners alongside the street paying for 65 percent of the project, while the City would pay for 35 percent.
