What the Critics Say
"You Don't Know How It Feels," the lead single from Tom Petty's second solo album Wildflowers, is a groovy, laid-back, rootsy rocker that follows through on the promise of "Mary Jane's Last Dance" by being tougher and smarter, and topping it off with the best dope reference in many a moon. On the single, it's paired with the terrific, funny "Girls on LSD" (guess you could call it the drug single, then), a Wildflowers outtake that was removed because it was "too controversial." It's reason enough to track this single down. ["You Don't Know How It Feels" was released as a CD single, cassette single and seven-inch vinyl.] ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
