What the Critics Say
The Indigo Girls had achieved a respectable level of notoriety by the mid-'90s, not only with respect to their formidable brand of acoustic rock, but also their penchant for political causes. But you were unlikely to catch any of their videos on MTV or VH1, because they weren't quite commercial enough to break into heavy rotation. Watershed collects these underseen videos in one place for fans who can't get enough of Amy and Emily. Interspersed among the professionally produced work are interview segments with the duo, homemade video clips, and views of the Girls' early days in the Atlanta music scene. It's a well-paced collection, with the production values of the videos climbing along the way from the straight-forward early work of "Hammer and a Nail" and "Closer to Fine" to the more elaborate and symbolism-laden "Galileo" and "Touch Me Fall." Altogether it's a must get for true-blue Indigo fans with no other means to screen the videos themselves. ~ Jim Esch, All Music Guide
