What the Critics Say
Paradime seems to be tugging on Eminem's coat-tails a bit here. Not because they're both from Detroit. Not because they both work with D12. It's just that the angry kid metaphor gone way too far thing has been done before. Still, it hasn't been done to death, and the Eminem comparison is just inevitable. That said, Paradime really puts together a good album here. Plenty of the tracks are pleasant surprises, from the self-centered "Sultan of Slang" to the remake of the Temptations' funk classic "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" called "Rollin Dope" that's sure to catch some parent's ears. All of the MCs are lyrically proficient throughout, the production is busy and effective, and, as a whole, the album is amusing and playful while staying dead serious. ~ Brad Mills, All Music Guide
