What the Critics Say

Curb Records have probably scored like bandits with this 1991-vintage recording and, what's more, they deserve to. The Righteous Brothers were still worth hearing right up until Bobby Hatfield's death in 2003, even if it was their old songs that came off best. And given the fact that Polygram and MCA were (and still seem to be, in January of 2004) in no hurry to upgrade the duo's catalog, contemporary recordings such as this one are more worth hearing than they might otherwise be. The Righteous Brothers could still pull off what they did best, especially with Bill Medley producing and working with the musicians they wanted. There are no surprises except how good they both sounded and how easily they overcome the slight lack of reverb on the drums, to retain enough of their classic Spector/Medley sound to make it all resonate in all the right ways. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
