What the Critics Say
Prom Kings songs like "Better Man," "Birthday," and "Blow" will slot perfectly next to Seether, Chevelle, and Three Days Grace on modern rock radio. But in case you get lost in similar sounding songs, vocalist Chris Carney drops helpful reminders. "You know the Prom Kings make it last all night!" he says in "Birthday," reiterating later during "Blow" "Girl you're rollin' with the Prom Kings!" The album's pillowy production doesn't allow for many true rock moments -- when choruses do try to kick it in, they usually feature string sections, too. But towards the end of the album "Down" does try on some rock atmosphere, channelling the processed grit of Linkin Park. Aftermath gangsta MC the Game even shows up mid-song for a spirited rap. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
