What the Critics Say

Adam Richman ditched out on studies at George Washington University after his freshman year in order to make a mark for himself with his music. After a few years touring the country in a battered Geo Prizm playing for anyone who'd lend him attention, a funny thing happened: people started listening. And for those jaded by dorm-bred emo bards, Patience is a neat little surprise. Besides being damn good most of the time -- as stripped-down ballads like "Asleep" and "Patience and Science" assure -- the kid's got the balls to bring forth a contagious, full-blown, single-worthy pop song with "Baby I've Changed." OK, there's some slightly whiny stuff here like "What's Gone Ain't Gone," which proves Richman has studied Chris Carrabba and the Get Up Kids well, but said derivatives aside, Patience shows real promise. ~ John D.
